Good news on unemployment should be good news for housing
It goes without saying that if you want to buy a home, you need a good job. And there is good news on the unemployment front in both the Charleston metropolitan area and the state of South Carolina.
The Post and Courier reports that unemployment fell to single digits in the state for the first time in a while. But like real estate is local, so is job growth and unemployment and there is much better news in the Charleston metro area standing at 7.8 percent with Charleston County at 7.4 percent, Dorchester County at 7.8 percent and Berkeley County at 8.9 percent.
While still unacceptably high, at least the jobless rate is heading in the right direction.
