Don't tell just anyone you LOVE that PERFECT home
On more than one occasion, when house hunters are searching Charleston homes for sale and inquire about additional information, they give their motivation away by mentioning how much they LOVE a specific home or how PERFECT that home would be for their family.
Now if that inquiry was going directly to the listing agent, as a buyer you would be at a distinct advantage in any future negotiation no matter whether you have a buyer agent helping you or whether you choose to be an unrepresented buyer dealing directly with the home seller and their agent because the listing agent will certainly mention to his / her sellers that you really like their home.
So no matter how much you LOVE that PERFECT home, you'll probably overpay by at least a little bit.
The best advice I can offer: Shhhh!
But once you do find a buyer agent to help you buy a home in Charleston, you can be assured that your motivations will be kept confidential.
