Should we move all holidays to have 3 day weekends
I just heard where a state representative somewhere was going to introduce a bill to have Halloween celebrated on a Saturday every year and it got me thinking (which is a dangerous thing).
Now don't get me wrong because I'm in favor of having as many 3 (or even 4) day holiday weekends but actually, Halloween is more than costumes, trick or treating and all the other stuff we're familiar with, it's actually the Eve of All Hallows which is All Saints Day celebrated on November 1.
And if you change Halloween to be more conveniently celebrated on a Saturday for example because it's better for the kids to trick or treat on a weekend night rather than a school night, wouldn't the same thing apply to New Year's Eve being celebrated over a long weekend rather than on a Tuesday or Wednesday which isn't as festive except that it really isn't New Year's Eve.
