[Lowcountry Living] Charleston porches
Many Charleston home buyers are looking for homes with porches. There's nothing finer than sitting on your porch with family and friends enjoying a sweet tea or possibly something stronger.
And if one porch is nice, two are even nicer.
Back in the day, many Charleston homes in the Historic District had a full porch running down the side of the home and they are known locally as a piazza. If the ceiling on the porch is painted in a light blue, that color is known as piazza blue.
Nowadays, many new and newer homes have full front porches and quite a few have double porches. Many of the clients that I have worked with over the years have purchased homes with double porches and while you will occasionally see them available on the side of the home, many of the porches are located in the front.
