On this first day of fall, more than leaves are falling

first day of fall 2011Sometime later this afternoon, a NASA satellite the size of a school bus will break into pieces on reentry and is expected to fall to earth and while it isn't expected to hurt anyone, right now NASA isn't exactly sure where it might land.

According to the Washington Post, "About 26 pieces will survive reentry and crash to the surface, with the largest chunk weighing more than 300 pounds. But most of the planet's surface is open ocean, and it's unlikely anyone will be hurt, according to NASA, which puts the odds of even one human being, somewhere, being injured at 1 in 3200." (emphasis added)

Yikes!

So have a safe and happy first day of fall.

With something big about to come crashing down from the sky, it's appropriate it "could" happen on the first day of FALL.Yikes.
