Laundry rooms and laundry closets

Charleston real estateWhen viewing homes with a client the other day, we saw a very nice laundry room. I wish I took a picture of it for this post but that brings up one of the subjects of this post, laundry rooms are generally not photographed for Charleston MLS listings but for some reason, laundry closets which don't photograph particularly well always seem to make the cut when a listing agent selects up to 24 pictures to include in a listing.

Now one reason for that is that you'll find laundry rooms in more expensive homes and there might be many more glamorous shots than something as mundane as a laundry room. But let's face it, when buyers are considering homes, laundry plays an important role in the decision.

Is it upstairs or downstairs (where is the master bedroom), is there a laundry sink, is there additional storage, can you hang some clothes, is there a folding table and is it a laundry room or just a closet where you can put the machines.

Anyway, back to the picture.

Silly as it may be, one reason that a photograph of a laundry closet is included might be to let the potential home buyer know that they will be able to do their laundry in the comfort of their new home rather than running out to a laundromat and that could be especially important to a first time home buyer who currently might be doing that.

But that brings up this silly thought.

Why are toilets photographed so often (lids down please).

Surely, most people have one where they currently live; they're probably not currently using an outhouse.
