What does Casey Anthony have to do with Charleston real estate

Casey Anthony verdictFirst, a few disclaimers. I am not an attorney nor do I play one on TV. I was not a member of the jury. I didn't watch any coverage of the Casey Anthony trial. And if I happen to glance at Nancy Grace on TV, I flip the channel asap.

And like many people I was surprised that the verdict was not guilty.

Now, what does all that have to do with Charleston real estate anyway.

The Internet has enabled many people to know much more about real estate than ever before. That's good. I enjoy working with educated home buyers and sellers.

The problem is that somehow some people seem to think that since they have spent some time online, they are now experts.

Like a Twitter post I noticed commenting on reaction in the social media community to the Casey Anthony verdict said (and I'm sorry but I have to paraphrase), "When did Twitter start issuing law degrees".

And it just so happens to be a coincidence but I was recently working with an attorney who said that Zillow valued a home that he was interested in at $4000 less than list price and he didn't want to overpay. The bottom line was that based on that his bid for the home was not successful. The home in fact sold for $1000 more than list price and most importantly appraised for at least that much because it did successfully close.

Going online for information does not make you a real estate expert, it's simply information to help guide your decisions, not necessarily rule them.

And maybe it didn't get proven beyond a reasonable doubt but how did the duct tape get put on anyway.
