It's my 4 year blogiversary even while some say the RE Blog is dead

Charleston real estate blog 4 year blogiversaryFour years ago today, I hit the publish key for the first time and started writing the Charleston real estate blog and approximately 1300 posts later, while some of the so called gurus and experts say that the RE blog is dead, I'm still posting.

Back in the day, blogs moved to the forefront of real estate because it changed websites from the static, "it's all about me" to the interactive, "it's all about you". I remember just after getting started, Katy Stech, the real estate writer at the Post and Courier called to interview me about writing a blog because it was a new phenomenon and then, all of a sudden, it seemed like everyone jumped onto the blog bandwagon. Fast forward to today's real estate world and it's now become all about social media; facebook, twitter or checking in at some location or another.

Note to gurus and experts, a blog is a form of social media too. You just aren't following or being followed by 20,000 people who aren't really following each other or there wouldn't be any time left to actually do business. And do you really think that you have thousands of friends.

Truth be told, most real estate blogs are dead and some never really got going in the first place if you only wrote a post or two or blogged about your listings or basically just copied and pasted someone else's stuff. (My best suggestion if that's what you did, delete those few posts and don't pretend you have [or had] a blog in the first place.)

Anyway, I have enjoyed writing and providing (sometimes) helpful information to anyone who has been interested in reading and I've met some very nice people both here in Charleston and around the web as a result and this is important too, I've sold a few homes as a direct result. Of course, the page views of this blog are inconsequential compared with Charleston real estate search which is really what the real estate consumer wants if they have any interest in buying a home in Charleston but some days there are hundreds and once in a while a post might get thousands of page views.

Most importantly, I think Charleston home buyers and sellers can get to learn a little bit about me through my writing and determine whether we might be a good fit to work together to buy or sell a home.

And yes, you can find me on facebook or twitter but thanks for reading the Charleston real estate blog and I'm hopeful that you'll want to continue to read it in the years to come.

That is, if I can come up with something to post about tomorrow. Wink

Congratulations! It is a shame for those lot that called themselves gurus, when just after a short time they've packed their bags and gave up on blogging. I think the new forms of social media is all well and good, but nothing beats reading continued quality contents! Here's to more blogging years!
