Crescent Homes now building in White Gables, Summerville

White Gables SummervilleCrescent Homes, a local Charleston builder known for building fine homes to Earthcraft standards is now building in White Gables in Summerville.

White Gables has been one of the most popular neighborhoods in Summerville and features a traditional neighborhood design with front porches, sidewalks and lots of amenities.

Saussy Burbank did a terrific job of building a nice variety of Charleston style homes in White Gables and it's just my opinion but when the housing market got a little tough, they just didn't adapt their floor plans and achieve the economy of scale to meet changing demands and hit popular price points that other builders were able to accomplish.

I've always liked the floor plans and quality homes that Crescent Homes builds and I think they will do very well building in White Gables. Here's more on Crescent Homes and White Gables.

I live in a Crescent Home...built while it was Brentwood. I wouldn't call them super quality. I'm having to patch sheet rock seems all over my house  where they are coming apart. I'm having my AC guy enlarge my return vent because they didn't make it large enough to pull enough air into the ac unit. I have a moat around my house every time it rains because it wasn't properly graded (and that's after a couple of french drains were installed on a couple of visits). When I decided to replace my living room carpet with wood flooring I found huge piles of what looked like cement dust under the carpet padding as if swept in a pile and carpeted over. After several patch jobs (by the builder) on the vinyl floor in the kitchen to repair divets in the slab underneath, I gave up and continued the new flooring into the kitchen. Crescent does the bare minimum and that's it. All the empty lots not purchased in   Highwoods Plantation have notices from the county that they have been seized for non payment of taxes and will be auctioned in October.

Be honest with buyers. Make sure they get a good home inspector before they buy even though it might meet code, it still may not be good.

Michelle, I'm certainly sorry to hear about all that whether it was Brentwood or any other builder. And I did hear that Brentwood was not as good about customer service in the last days of their existence. While Crescent is owned by a member of the same family, my understanding is that there is no relationship between the two companies.

And thanks for making the all important point regarding a home inspection.
