Information deemed reliable but not guaranteed
... is a phrase you'll see associated with just about every piece of information that you find on the Charleston MLS. And for good reason because the Charleston MLS is a user reported system which means that Charleston Realtors® enter their own listings and update the data. Sometimes it's incorrect.
Every month, I post Charleston real estate market statistics and most of you know that the numbers continually change as homes that sell are always added later. The Charleston MLS is trying to get its members to "follow the rules" and enter sold homes within the 5 days allowed and really wants everyone to enter all previous monthly sales by the 5th of the following month so that they can accurately report Charleston real estate market activity.

But here is a perfect example of a real estate agent who entered incorrect data and I know it for a fact because I was involved in the transaction. You see, the closing date was wrong, it actually closed on May 26 rather than April 26 so that will increase April sales and decrease May sales. I asked the agent several times to correct the inaccuracy but so far, the information is still deemed reliable but not guaranteed.
