Viewing homes for sale in Charleston can be somewhat like an obstacle course

... but we really want to see that home. Real life and amazing but true, in just one day of viewing homes for sale, we encountered all of the following:

obstacle courseA broken lockbox that the listing agent had to come out and fix so we could get the key.

Meeting the listing agent at a specific time so that the dogs could be let out of the home.

Finding the lockbox when the listing agent played "hide the lockbox".

A key that wouldn't turn and when it finally did, got stuck in the lock.

A home owner who let us in and distracted the viewing by chatting endlessly.

Rushing to find the alarm to disarm it when the instructions weren't clear.

A tenant occupied home that required 24 hour notice.

Those same tenants left the home (when we finally did view it) in typically messy fashion with an incredible amount of clutter.

A home that came with a warning that the big dog in the kennel of the yard was very bad and we shouldn't put our hands near him or he would bite.

An appointment required home that the home owner declined the appointment because it was apparently at an inconvenient time.

There are other obstacles that sellers put up to viewing homes for sale in Charleston that I have experienced but they just didn't happen yesterday.
