Home buyer tax credit is due to expire April 30

... and of course there is once again talk of another extension but don't count on it.

Charleston real estate home buyer tax creditIf you are a first time home buyer or an existing home buyer who has lived in their current home for 5 consecutive years of the last 8, mark your calendar for April 30, 2010 to write a contract and June 30, 2010 to close.

First time home buyers will get a tax credit of $8000 and existing home buyers will get a tax credit of $6500. While that is a very good reason to buy a home, it should not be your primary reason.

And what about the talk of another extension.

The Wall Street Journal has the pro and con. My personal opinion, it won't and it shouldn't be extended.
