Summerville is the most active location within the Charleston real estate market based on the number of transactions year to date. That shouldn't surprise you since Dorchester County including Summerville has been one of the 50 fastest growing counties in the US for the past few years due to the highly regarded Dorchester II school district and affordable housing choices.
What does surprise people who are relocating to the Charleston area is that while the Town of Summerville numbers just over 30,000 residents, there are probably over 100,000 people with a Summerville mailing address. And Summerville offers lots of shopping including 2 Wal Marts, 2 Lowes, one location each of Home Depot, Target, Belk and Kohls along with many other specialty shops in the Town Square and suburban strip malls all within 30 minutes of both downtown Charleston and the beaches.
