[More on] Seasonal trends in Charleston real estate

Sometimes Google just amazes me with the amount of information that you can find. Recently I wrote about seasonal trends for Charleston home sales and home prices. There has always been a drop in the numbers of visitors to my website toward the end of the year and a corresponding drop in the number of real estate transactions. This year is no exception and you'll see in the charts immediately below by looking at the dotted red line that the number of searches and pageviews of potential buyers searching the Charleston MLS is trending slightly down.

But back to Google and the number of people searching for real estate. In this 5 year chart, you'll see that search activity for real estate seems to decline somewhere in the middle to end of July every year. And clearly, there is less interest in searching real estate today than there was during the height of the housing boom.

One difference that I'm noticing is that it seems as if the decline this year is somewhat less steep than in previous years and this could have something to do with the first time homebuyer $8k tax credit. Don't forget the deadline is closing in quickly!
