Back to school tax free shopping weekend
Sure it's 90 degrees out but the back to school season officially kicks off this weekend with South Carolina's annual tax free shopping weekend.
You'll save the sales tax on all school related items that you need to purchase including typical school supplies and clothing. But the list of items that qualify as tax free is quite surprising, a few years ago, I bought a tuxedo shirt and it qualified (I guess lawmakers were thinking ahead to school kids needing one for the senior prom).
Another benefit is that many stores that don't have merchandise that would be tax free will also have big sales including a discount of the equivalent sales tax.
So it's a good weekend to shop til you drop.
