Springtime in Charleston is quite simply the best season of the year with glorious weather and so many different events and things to do. The highlight of the spring season is of course, Spoleto Festival USA and this year, make sure to mark your calendars for May 22 through June 7.
Spoleto Festival USA was founded in 1977 by Gian Carlo Menotti as the American counterpart to the festival held annually in Spoleto Italy. Held over 17 days at venues throughout the Charleston area, Spoleto Festival USA offers a wide range of artistic styles and forms including classical ballet, modern and post - modern dance, opera, chamber, symphonic and choral music, jazz, theatre and visual arts.
