Would you buy this listing

... with absolutely no information provided by the listing agent in the Charleston MLS.

Charleston real estate, Charleston homes for sale

With the lack of information provided, it's no wonder it languished unsold on the market from August 2007 until March of this year. There was no description and the only thing you know is that a refrigerator and washer are included and a monthly regime is indicated but the cost is $0.

Oh, the picture, as you might expect.

Charleston MLS listings

Now the reason that I bring this up (and of course, this is probably the most extreme example I've ever noticed) is that I wonder how many sellers know what the agent that they hired to sell their home is actually doing to do exactly that.

I happened to see this home within a few days of a new agent taking the listing because one of my clients noticed it and wanted to view the home. My client liked it enough to want to write a contract that day but it wouldn't have made much sense to try and write a contract contingent on the sale of another home.

So let's try to sell my clients' current home (shameless promotion ahead)

Maybe you'd be interested in a very nice 2 bedroom townhome in Planters Place in Mount Pleasant for $179,000, click here to view the listing complete with a rich description and more than a dozen photographs or take a virtual tour.

Seller tip: If you are considering selling your home, choose your agent wisely. Then, follow up by checking your listing to make sure that you are getting the kind of marketing exposure you want.

I agree completely.  I also find it comical that people think their listing price is right when no one is even giving the house an offer.  Here is a real estate agent who I will use if I am buying a home in SD (where I am currently but moving to Charleston soon).

He was feature in GMA and Nightline.  He still sells 30+ homes a year.

I am seriously thinking about meeting with you once I get there to discuss about real estate i.e. why the downtown 29403 zip code still so damn expensive...;)  I want to live near where I will be working (so I can walk to work) but James island looks better and better day by day.

Jimmy, thanks for stopping by and don't just *think* about meeting me, meet me and I'll be glad to help you.

Of course, the agent you referred to is the famous Jim the Realtor.

As to 29403, the location is in very high demand between MUSC, CofC and those who are interested in downtown living. As you point out, James Island is a bit more affordable and convenient to downtown as well as the beach.
