Charleston military families may get government help when selling their homes at loss
Like many Charleston home sellers, military families who purchased a home and now get orders to move are facing a difficult real estate market when selling their home. But a small provision in the in the economic recovery plan may provide a little help.
The Department of Defense would reimburse up to 95% of the loss to service members who purchased a home before July 1, 2006. The Homeowner's Assistance Program was originally created to help military families forced to sell after a base closure but has been expanded due to the difficult real estate market today.
