44 hours is not a new reality tv show

... but it was how long it took a real estate agent to contact me.

blackberryFrom the "too busy to bother file", a true story. One of my client's parents asked me to help them find a real estate agent in another city. Since I didn't personally know anyone there, I called several friends for recommendations. While waiting to hear of a few names, I googled the area and looked at the websites of those listed on page one. I left my contact info on one website that I liked best and waited to hear back.

OK, it was late afternoon and maybe they were finished for the day but I didn't hear back the next morning or the next afternoon either. When the call finally came 44 hours later, the agent was amazed that we had already moved on with our search for another agent to help.

So, what do you think, how long should you give a real estate agent (or really anyone you plan to do business with) to respond to your inquiry.

I've heard that most real estate consumers will generally work with the first agent to respond. I've heard that 60 minutes is all that the consumer public will wait. How patient are you and how responsive is your real estate agent.

Howard,

You are right on track.  If they don't respond within 5 business hours they are not interested or just not paying attention.

Neil, thanks for stopping by. All I can suggest is that everyone deserves better from those they choose to do business with.
