We don't need more hypocrisy
Tom Daschle, nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Human Services, said today he was deeply embarrassed regarding his failure to pay his taxes.
"As you can well imagine, I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed by the errors that required me to amend my tax returns,"
But in 1998 while serving in the US Senate, Daschle had this to say,
Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter. Congressional Record, May 7, 1998, S4507
Is there anyone in Washington who actually paid their taxes who might be qualified to hold public office or are we simply stuck with a bunch of hypocrites to lead our country.
