Tucked in the woods behind a discreet sign about a mile from the Summerville Town Square, The Woodlands Resort & Inn is one of only three lodging properties in America to be awarded the Mobil Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond awards for both lodging and dining.
Southern Living which somehow seems to mention something about the Charleston area in almost every issue just highlighted The Woodlands in their December magazine. If you don't subscribe and I don't know why you wouldn't, here is the online article.
One of the interesting things about The Woodlands is that they do very little marketing within the Charleston area. Many local Summerville residents dine at The Woodlands for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries and the wine and dinner events each month are always popular. The Dining Room didn't miss a beat when Ken Vedrinski left several years ago to open Sienna on Daniel Island and the current executive chef is Nate Whiting.
Several years ago, the I'on Group purchased some of the woods surrounding the resort to develop a new home community. There are no immediate plans for development.
