Don't be fooled, your credit does matter

Charleston real estateI noticed this sign tacked to a pole the other day. It is aimed at renters who might be interested in buying a brand new home for $500 down and indicates credit is not a problem.

That's true, if your credit is good, then it isn't a problem. But everyone should know by now that your credit does matter whether you are buying a home, car or obtaining a credit card.

If you are currently renting and you would like to own a home, don't be fooled by this kind of misleading stuff. There are ways to improve your credit rating so that you will be able to buy a home sometime in the future. Talk to a good mortgage lender about what you need to do in order to buy a home in Charleston. If you don't know a good mortgage lender, just ask and I'll put you in touch with one.

And while I'm on the subject of being fooled, those lease to purchase offers don't benefit the buyer very much either. I'll have another post about that subject in a few days.
