President Bush helps housing industry
... by buying a home in Dallas.
We know the lame duck administration of George Bush hasn't done very much to help the housing industry, busying itself with bailing out every bank they can find with no apparent positive results yet from that effort.
But the soon to be former President and his wife Laura will be moving into a home in the upscale North Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow. The price paid was $3,074,000 and that certainly helps the housing industry.
The ranch style home built in 1959 includes a fireplace and wet bar, has 4 bedroom, 4 1/2 baths and sits on 1.13 acres. It has 8501 square feet of living space including 896 square feet of servant quarters.
As to security, the homes sits on a cul-de-sac, backs to two estates of 14 and 24 acres respectively, the latter owned by Tom Hicks, owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team. The President was a part owner of the team before being elected Governor of Texas. Apparently the Secret Service will have some nice digs as well since the home next door that was listed for $1.6 million went under contract as well.
If any of the President's staff members are interested in relocating from Washington to Charleston, I'd be happy to show some very nice homes for sale available in the Charleston real estate market.
