Preparations for Hanna

Hurricane preparations in Charleston

We spent some time in the office this morning discussing plans and preparations should Hanna (or any other hurricane) hit the Charleston area. And I know the City of Charleston and the Tri-County area are ready as is the media with lots of reports during the day today. The early news is mostly positive with current indications of no more than a quick brush up the coast with landfall to the north near Myrtle Beach or Wilmington.

But we've had a busy season thus far and since it's right in the middle of peak season, it's a good time for a reminder on hurricane preparedness from the National Hurricane Center.

As you can see by the picture on the left, I'm ready for Hanna.

Please note the flashlight so that I can find the bottle of wine. But all bets are off if Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel is reporting from Folly Beach. That tells you to get more serious.

Do you think that insurance will drop if Charleston makes it through hurricane season with no major damage?

James, surely you're joking; my rates actually went up a little last year and we didn't have any claims and Charleston and actually the rest of the country didn't have any storms.
