You should be a client

... and not a lead.

I get these kind of emails all the time (edited for anonymity) offering to sell me names of buyers who are supposedly interested in buying or selling a home in the Charleston real estate market.

First of all, I don't know why any real estate agent would want to deal with any of the many companies offering to sell leads to them for a portion of the commission but apparently enough do that there is more than just a cottage industry of companies that make money doing just that.

Oh, by the way, this also applies to the online mortgage marketplace.

But notice the words, our buyers and sellers and our clients above. And lo and behold, unfortunately, they cannot help them. So why would you want to be their client instead of finding and working with the best possible real estate agent you can find.

Don't be misled by websites that pretend to be able to help you buy or sell a home or get you a mortgage when their only goal is to capture your name and sell it.
