All the news that's fit to print

The Charleston Post and Courier trimmed the size of the newspaper and changed the font. It is the South's oldest newspaper founded in 1803 but sometimes you wonder why they didn't trim the size even more when you see some of the stories.

I had lunch today and a newspaper was sitting around so I thought I would read it while eating. Some fun stuff but perhaps not as "highbrow" as the Times.

In Charleston real estate news, a judge sided with a widow in a 3 year land dispute with a gentleman (I'll use the word loosely) who befriended and attempted to defraud her. A family in Mount Pleasant is suing their builder to repair mold damage and subsequent health issues they faced. (Can you say home inspection, whether you are buying new construction or a preowned home?) A proposed road too near an established neighborhood is embroiled in controversy. And the business section carried the story of the lower than expected pending home sales index and a story of a small local builder filing for bankruptcy reorganization.

Now you might think there would be some relief in the sports section but they started up the coverage of the College Football season with a 12 part series previewing each game that Clemson and South Carolina will play this year. And the weather today was sunny with temperatures about 90, just a great time to start thinking football, don't you think?
