Change is difficult

ChangeAs a Charleston real estate agent, I deal with change on an everyday basis. While change is generally difficult, it's interesting how different people deal with change. You can plan and do everything in your power to make change smooth and still have to deal with problems that are sometimes out of your control. Or you can stress but what's the point.

If you are relocating to Charleston, you face many changes. A new home, a new job, meeting new friends, etc. You have to deal with utility services, drivers licenses, schools, etc. Packing and unpacking. There is simply a lot to do and even if you are only moving from one house to another within Charleston, your list only gets a little shorter but there is still a lot of change that will be occurring in your life.

I recently changed real estate agencies. I didn't necessarily plan to change but the company I worked for was purchased by another. I decided the time was right to make a change that I wanted to make rather than a change being made to me so I joined The AgentOwned Realty Co.

I knew that I would have to make changes to my website, my email signature and various other things. What I didn't count on was that my email address at the Charleston MLS was changed without my knowledge to an email address that I don't use and can't access. As you can well imagine, I depend on email communication and when I discovered what had occurred, I thought that some people might have tried to reach me and I didn't know about it and didn't respond to their inquiry. As a general rule, I answer my phone, reply promptly to voice mail when I can't answer my phone and check and reply to emails quickly. So you can imagine how upset I could have gotten but I thought, well, there isn't much I can do about it so it's probably better to just not worry about it and just deal with it and move forward.

So I understand the stress you may be going through whether you are buying or selling a home in Charleston. You'll have to deal with a lot of changes and it is a stressful time. It's best to remember that some things are out of your control and not to get upset when everything doesn't go smoothly. Life is like that.

did you ever find out what happened to that short sale on 2790 Parkers Landing Rd?

I was curious to see if got auctioned off or anything...

thanks JS but I thought the little glitch that I experienced was probably nothing compared to what clients have to go through when buying or selling.

As to Parkers, it is contingent waiting on the bank to approve. May be a while. It's still a bit too "boxy".
