Why register to search
Several regular visitors have emailed me recently asking why I now require registration to search the Charleston MLS on the new map based search provided by Diverse Solutions on my website. Actually, it's a small point but you don't have to register to search, but you do have to register to get the property details.
So here's my best explanation.
When I provided no registration required search from the CTAR MLS, I would generally get 2 or 3 people per day who registered to either save their favorite properties or inquire about additional information. I thought when I found the most technologically advanced IDX search product on the market today that even more people would enjoy the search experience and contact me. What I found was that the information provided was so thorough and complete that very few potential buyers needed any additional information from me.
From my website statistics, I noticed that out of the hundreds that visited the new search page in the first week it was installed, only 5 registered. Frankly, I didn't invest $100 per month instead of $11.45 to provide great search technology and attract fewer potential clients. So I decided to require registration. And in the first 12 hours, there were 10 registrations and many more have registered in the days since.
Now you have to understand that I don't hassle anyone with a bunch of spam emails. I email only one monthly real estate update each month to my database. Your information is private and only helps me to better serve your real estate needs. Just your name and email address is required and you pick your password.
I think that Charleston real estate buyers will find the best search technology on my website with the most complete listings updated daily directly from the Charleston MLS. Many other sites with great technology like Zillow, Trulia and others don't have nearly all the listings. Realtor.com does have all the listings but their technology seems to be from the 1990's and in most cases, you'll only find 6 pictures (recently increased from just one).
And when you register, take look at the great information you'll get including detailed listing information, full sized and multiple pictures, school and neighborhood information, Zillow zestimates and more. You can save searches, save your favorites, create listing alerts and of course, contact me for any additional information about a property that interests you.
