Unreasonable expectations

Sometimes you just have to wonder.

There are so many places that real estate buyers can search for homes today that when you receive a request to send listings that basically aren't available, you just wonder if the potential buyer was serious enough to do a little research on the Charleston real estate market before sending an email.

Could this be a bargain found in the Charleston real estate marketFor example, a potential buyer cancelled their very reasonable previous search for 4 bedroom homes that sold between $250,000 and $300,000 in Mount Pleasant and Summerville and changed their search criteria to any kind of property under $100,000 that was lender owned. Of the 10,000 plus listings in the Charleston MLS, there are 10 properties that met this criteria. Half were somewhat rural mobile homes and the others appeared to be run down shacks.

Not that there is anything wrong with trying to find a good deal in the foreclosure market but that price is just not going to buy you very much.

Potential buyers looking for luxury Charleston real estate sometimes underestimate how much it might cost to live on the beach. On the Isle of Palms, there are 260 square foot condotels (hotel rooms now being sold as investments) available from $129,900 and up and fractional ownership (13 weeks) of a 490 square foot 1 bedroom condo starts at $104,900.

I welcome anyone who is interested in the Charleston real estate market to contact me for more information on what might be available in their price range.

Reasonable expectations gratefully appreciated. Wink
