Charleston's award winning chef

The James Beard awards were presented last evening in New York City and chef/owner Robert Stehling of Charleston's Hominy Grill won the award for the best chef in the Southeast. The Hominy Grill is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week and is best known for seasonal and fresh lowcountry fare. My personal favorite is brunch served either Saturday or Sunday. Just look for the mural of the grits lady on the side of the building located at Rutledge and Cannon in the now booming Cannon / Spring corridor near the Medical Center. The Hominy Grill opened back in 1996 and firmly planted the seeds for the gentrification of the neighborhoods higher up the Charleston Peninsula.
