School is out so it's time to head to the beach and June is truly a great time to go. The weather is generally sunny and hot and the ocean breezes are delightful. So you might wonder why the title of this post has to do with Charleston schools and Charleston home buyers.
Well, of course, summer is also the time when searching for homes in the Charleston real estate market is focused on what schools children will be attending and how are those schools rated. Whether you currently live in the Charleston area or are considering relocation to Charleston, the choice of schools is an important one. And even if you don't have school age children, the school district your home is located in is important as well when you consider resale however many years from now.
The Charleston area includes 5 school districts. Here is a list of the school districts and many of the communities that make up each school district.
Charleston - Charleston, Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, James Island, Johns Island, North Charleston (Charleston County)
Berkeley - Daniel Island, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Moncks Corner, Summerville (Berkeley County)
Dorchester II - Summerville, North Charleston (Dorchester County)
Dorchester IV - Rural Dorchester County
Colleton - Walterboro
