How important are ceiling fans to stay cool

I would say very. And it's not summer yet.

We have ceiling fans throughout our home and a funny thing happened the other day. I was getting a little stepladder out to adjust the fan in my home office to a higher rate of speed as the season started to change to warmer temperatures. And when I walked into the room, I was surprised that it wasn't running at all because the last I noticed it was. So I just turned it off and turned it on and nothing happened. OK, so then I pull on the fan cord speed and try it a few times and nothing again.

Since I'm not handy (as you can tell by my lame attempt to fix it as described above), I have to call my handyman. But in the few days since, I've noticed that my office has been a little too warm for my comfort and even on the hottest days of summer, I've never been warm while in the office. The only difference, the fan currently isn't working.

Well, either this one gets fixed or a new one gets installed. Soon. Summer is coming. Paradise

I enjoyed reading your blog. Regarding ceiling fans, here in Texas they are an absolute MUST. I can't think of one home that doesn't have one in almost every room.

Curtis, thanks for stopping by and for your kind words re my blog.

I can tell you that the fan was repaired, it was apparently a loose wire and my office is totally comfortable again. While we had our handy man out, we added a new fan on the front porch.
