Charleston home search, no registration required

... so why do some people bother to use a phony email.

I like to search the Internet and do it anonymously and it's one of the main reasons that I don't require registration for searching the Charleston MLS. My thinking is that once you feel comfortable on my website and want to leave your contact information to get additional information, you'll do so and many people do exactly that.

Others, for reasons that I can't figure try to save a search or request listing alerts or send a favorite listing to themselves via email and use a phony email address like me @ gmail or john doe @ aol and of course, the email will not arrive so why bother. I don't think that either Larry Page or Sergey Brin, the founders of Google have me @ gmail and other than an unidentified corpse, who is John Doe anyway.

So wouldn't it be better if you wanted to remain anonymous but still get the information you want to set up a real email at yahoo or hotmail or gmail that didn't identify you. I have 4 regular email accounts that I use for various things but one of them is completely anonymous for those kinds of occasions I don't want someone to know who the real me is and possibly spamming me.

And don't worry about getting a bunch of spam from me, I hate spam as much as you probably do. I'll answer your questions promptly but I won't send you a bunch of useless emails to remind you to buy Charleston real estate. I send one monthly real estate update to everyone who has been nice enough to provide me with a real email address in my database and you can unsubscribe at any time.
