Contingent offers, are you the buyer or the seller
Are you wanting to buy but have to sell your current home? Should you make an offer contingent on the sale of your home? Will the seller accept your contingent offer and should they?
With a lot of inventory available for sale in the Charleston South Carolina real estate market and homes selling much slower than previously, will this strategy work for either a buyer or a seller.
Phil Hoover from BoiseReal posted great back to back articles on the subject. Please read Why Contingent Offers Are Great For Buyers and pulling no strings, Why Contingent Offers Suck For Sellers.
If you are buying, the one drawback is that if you really love the home, please realize that you likely won't get it. If you are selling, please realize that your home most likely won't close and you are right back where you started from. Bottom line, a contingent offer really does "suck" for sellers to quote Phil.
