Real estate agents at bottom of list of most prestigious occupations
From Harris Interactive, "Firefighters, scientists and teachers are seen as the most prestigious occupations by U.S. adults, while bankers, actors and real estate agents are the least prestigious occupations".
As to trends over the years:
"Those who see teachers as having "very great" prestige has risen 25 points from 29 to 54 percent;" "Those who say lawyers have "very great" prestige has fallen 14 points, from 36 to 22 percent;" Of note, real estate agents have only been included in the poll for the past 5 years and in 2005 the profession had its highest ranking coinciding with the peak of real estate prices.
