An update on The Ponds in Summerville
I recently visited The Ponds, a new community in Summerville that is being developed by Greenwood Development that I introduced about 6 months ago with this post. A lot of progress has occurred and this development seems destined to be one of the truly outstanding neighborhoods in the Charleston South Carolina real estate market.

The renovation of the circa 1820 farmhouse which anchors the first of four amenity centers including a swimming pool and outdoor pavilion is nearly complete as is the amphitheatre and village pond and near the entrance to the property.
The real excitement though are the houses and lots available for sale. Five builders have been selected and homes are underway by David Weekley Homes, John Wieland Homes, Alison Dailey Homes, Palmetto Classic Homes and the J.D. Smith Company.

The picture above is a representation of the street scape in The Ponds and you'll notice wide front porches, working shutters and homes featuring lots of Southern charm. Garages are detached and will generally be accessed by alleyways. Building lots are also available and you can bring your own plans and builder if you'd like subject to ARB approval of course (just make sure the home you wish to build has a Lowcountry look and is finished in cement plank). I noticed available lots backing to protected wetlands for privacy and other lots fronting on one of the many parks planned for throughout the neighborhood. You'll get a little bit more space between homes if you choose a building lot and there is no time frame for building.
Homes are currently available from the $300's and lots are priced in the low to mid $100's. I'll keep you posted as this exciting Summerville neighborhood continues to develop.
