If you are selling, what does your front lawn say about the rest of your house
The Charleston South Carolina real estate market is highly competitive today with lots of homes for sale. I just pulled the statistics from the MLS for my monthly Charleston market report which I'll post a little later today and inventory of single family homes in the Charleston area totals 7022 or an 8.87 month supply at current absorption rates.
With many homes to choose from, buyers can be selective. Most of the buyers that I have worked with recently have been paying particular attention to the property's condition since there have been a lot of choices available with similar floor plans, square footage, neighborhoods and school systems, etc.,.
Take a look at these two front lawns and guess which one has the for sale sign in the front yard.

Of course, you probably knew where I was going with this so it should come as no surprise that the weed infested, unmowed lawn is the house for sale.
Aside from flowers and a freshly mowed and trimmed lawn welcoming and attracting potential buyers eager to see more on the inside, it also sets the tone for what kind of condition the buyers would expect to find the house in. If the front lawn has been neglected, might regular maintenance issues have been neglected as well?
If your home is for sale, get out there in the hot summer heat and make sure your curb appeal isn't sending the wrong message to potential buyers about the condition of your house. If you do, there might be a sold sign in your front lawn instead of still sitting on the market unloved and unwanted after the mowing season is over.
