Governor's House Inn sells for 5.1 million
One of the largest transactions in Charleston South Carolina real estate closed recently as the Governor's House Inn at 117 Broad Street was purchased by Kevin Shibiliski. Mr. Shibiliski. a former legislator and head of the Department of Tourism in Wisconsin will continue to operate the property as a Bed & Breakfast.
Mr. Shibiliski said, "We've been looking for an opportunity to own a piece of Charleston's charm and its history and its vibrant tourism economy. I know how a tourism market works and Charleston has the recipe."

The home, circa 1760, was once owned by Edward Rutledge, the youngest person to sign the Declaration of Independence. He later served as a U.S. Senator and as Governor of South Carolina. The property was declared a national Historic Landmark in 1971.
The sale price of $5,125,000 was one of the highest on record in Historic Charleston. The current high is $6.1 million for the William Gibbes House, a private residence, at 64 Battery.
On a fun note, the property was featured on Fantasy Friday on Larry Cragun's wonderful website, Real Estate Undressed.
