Charleston golf and tennis update

The Family Circle Cup going on this week on Daniel Island has had a tough tournament, several of the top women's players pulled out because of injuries and the top seed lost her opening match. The WTA has revised all of its tournaments beginning in 2009 to insure better participation in the elite tournaments because of too many injuries diluting the fields and The Family Circle Cup will retain its status. Hopefully, the tournament will bounce back nicely but this year is looking dismal.

On a bright note, The Senior PGA Championship looks to have a great field at the Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Resort during Memorial Day weekend. Every top name in Senior Golf is coming to play and it should be a great event at one of the finest and toughest golf courses in the country.

Obviously the older gents are in better physical shape than the young women playing tennis. Yes

And let's hope the women golfers can stay healthy, the inaugural Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika to be held the following week at Rivertowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant has announced that 22 of the top 25 women golfers in the world have committed to play.
