More on buyer representation

In the post I wrote yesterday regarding an agent bonus, I talked about truly representing the buyer's interests ahead of my personal financial interests. Today, I came across a very interesting post by Kris Berg from San Diego on the Bloodhound Blog that relates very nicely.

While Kris' post primarily has to do with Buyer Broker Agreements (California) called a Buyer Agency Contract in South Carolina, take a look at how a real estate agent "represented" his client's interests (not).

A snippet of what a buyer agent did (in this case, Kris is the listing agent):

  • He would only deliver the offer upon my signing the amended compensation agreement. (Blatant Board violation, not to mention contrary to his client’s objectives).
  • His “team leader” teaches seminars on the subject which I might want to attend. (I guess I am an unenlightened idiot).
  • He has done this “hundreds of times”. (He routinely puts his interests above those of this clients).
  • Please read this excellent post, Until Commission Do Us Part.
