Homes are still selling

This is my father-in-law's home in Pittsburgh that went on the market right after the first of the year and is already under contract. How did he sell despite the slowing housing market and winter weather?

You'll note the snow on the ground ...brrrrr... but that didn't deter lots of potential buyers from viewing the property and a qualified buyer wrote a good offer within 45 days.

Here's what he did. First of all, he took care of all maintenance items before the home went on the market. Next, he brought in a staging professional to showcase the home. Finally, he priced it right. It really is quite simple when you stop and think about it.

A little history, he actually put the house on the market last spring and didn't do anything other than put a very high price on it to see if someone was going to make him move. At the time, he really didn't want to sell, the house meant a lot to him, after all, he's lived in it for almost 30 years, but all the kids are grown and even sadder, his wife passed away several years ago. But at 71, he knew he really didn't need to take care of so much property and so, this time around, he got serious, he found a really nice one story home to move to and when he put the house on the market this time, he did it right.

Location, condition and price. It's a winning combination for the successful sale of your home.

Even better, he isn't moving in with us! Wink
