From website hit to a happy home

A wonderful tale of relocation to Charleston.

I got a hit on my website back in January from Rose Thompson. Due to her husband Tom's job transfer, they would be relocating to Charleston. She wanted to have auto notifications sent by email for all properties that matched her criteria so I set it up and after several days, I made sure they were being helpful.

One day, Rose indicated that Tom would be in Charleston on business and could I meet him for a few hours before his flight home so we met early at his hotel and I showed him some very nice neighborhoods and a few houses in the time we had available.

Tom's transfer was effective July 1 and he moved down and moved into a motel and we spent a couple of Saturdays looking at houses. They put their house on the market and priced it to sell as evidenced by lots of showings and a couple of quick offers (unfortunately, they got a lowball offer the first day and two potential buyers couldn't qualify financially). Tom joked that while he was staying in a one room motel, Rose was sitting on the veranda having a mint julep waiting for the house to sell and our summer heat to end.

And end it did as Rose came down in late September and we visited the houses Tom liked the most and Rose made the final pick, and of course Tom knew exactly which house Rose would choose. I also think Rose knew what she wanted before ever walking through a house because of her online searches.

Now comes the tough part, they selected new construction due to be complete in early December, their house sold almost immediately after they wrote the contract and Rose now moves down but at least they found a small apartment for a short term lease so they wouldn't have to eat at Cracker Barrel every day. They visited the new house just about every Saturday checking on how the construction was coming along and the long wait was finally over as they moved in late last week.

Welcome to Charleston, actually, welcome back to Tom since he lived here for several years and graduated from USC. Rose hasn't had her computer hooked up for several months and she missed getting the auto notifications so we're going to set up a new search so she can track what's happening with real estate in her new neighborhood.
