Goose Creek is the largest city in Berkeley County and is poised to grow much larger. Many who work at SPAWAR at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station or the Naval Nuclear Power Training facility choose to live in nearby Goose Creek. But that isn’t all that Goose Creek has working in its favor. Google recently announced plans for a new data center facility that will bring hundred of high tech jobs to a 520 acre campus currently under construction in the area.

There is an abundance of developable land and the Berkeley County Government has been very pro development especially when it is well planned development. Located in the triangle between Summerville, Moncks Corner and North Charleston, Goose Creek and Berkeley County is planning to grow significantly with over 100,000 new residents expected to move to the area within the next 10 years.

Where will all these new residents live? Goose Creek has some very established neighborhoods including Crowfield Plantation. But on the horizon is much more. Cane Bay Plantation features homes by Centex and FirstCoast Homes and the first Del Webb active adult community in the Charleston area. (Although I think of Cane Bay as part of Goose Creek, it actually has a Summerville mailing address). A new high school has just opened at the entrance to the neighborhood and a new Publix is set to open soon. Plans are in the works across Highway 176 for The Parks of Berkeley, an ambitious new development by Crescent Communities, the well regarded development unit of Charlotte North Carolina’s Duke Energy.

There is also a lot of development on the US 52 corridor towards Moncks Corner including Foxbank Plantation featuring homes from David Weekley Homes, Sabal Homes and several local builders. 

But the most talked about development in Goose Creek is Carnes, a new mixed use development by the Daniel Island Company, which acquired a 2300 acre former timber tract at the intersection of Highways 17A and 176 with plans to develop a new downtown for the City of Goose Creek and will have a similar look and feel as Daniel Island. Harris Teeter will be opening soon and there are plans for both a hospital and private school to be located at Carnes.

Crowfield Plantation is an almost 3000 acre community with neighborhoods of all styles and price ranges. There are miles of hiking trails, ponds, parks, greenways, neighborhood pools, tennis courts, picnic areas and the Crowfield Golf and CountyClub within the community. Highly acclaimed Westview Elementary and Middle School serve the community.

Liberty Hall is a Centex Community featuring 4 different Centex offerings, townhomes, 2 styles of traditional homes and a series of Charleston style homes. A neighborhood swimming pool and play park are among the amenities. Liberty Hall is very convenient to the Naval Weapons Station.
