Charleston golf course homes

No less an authority than GOLF Magazine recognized that Charleston is the home of the first American golf course. The South Carolina Golf Club, now known as the the Country Club of Charleston was established in 1786 at Harleston Green in the Historic District of Downtown Charleston and the club eventually relocated to its present location on James Island.
Kiawah Island Resort's famous Ocean Course designed by Pete Dye debuted in 1991 by hosting the Ryder Cup Matches and hosted the Senior PGA Championship in 2007 and will host the PGA Championship in 2012. The Daniel Island Club's Ralston Creek course designed by Rees Jones hosts an annual event on the Nationwide Tour.
